Gratitude Tuesday
I'm feeling pretty under the weather today, so this will be a short post, but I do have something I want to express gratitude for. Nick found out at work yesterday that his current schedule will remain in effect until October 1st "or further notice." It's my hope and prayer that further notice will never come and that things can stay as they are. In the meantime, it's very nice to have a month's reprieve!

My Husband, My Hero
Yesterday was rather fraught with emotion. Thursday night when we got in bed Nick told me to prepare myself because the spanking was definitely going to happen the next day. I thought about it off and on all day at work, but honestly, by then I'd been waiting long enough that it seemed like an unlikely rumor. Anyway, we didn't have a baby sitter, and I had a feeling that it would turn out to be another night full of distractions that took us all the way to bedtime.
Then, just before I left work, I got an email from my mom. She works at Morgan's school, and wanted to know if she could take Morgan home with her for a while. It had been a few days since she'd spent time with my parents and they'd been missing her. With a looming spanking suddenly a much more distinct possibility, it was tempting to tell my mom it was a bad time, but Morgan missed them too, so I told her it was fine.
And so I headed home all by my lonesome to meet my fate. I called Nick on my way home, and he was on his way to get his hair cut. This left me briefly hopeful that perhaps he'd be gone until it was time to pick Morgan up. Nope. He got home just a few minutes after I did. We spent some time each talking about our day, but it wasn't long until he announced that we had something to take care of. Dear Lord, this was actually going to happen. While he retrieved the evil fish paddle I tried my best to talk him out of it, but I couldn't come up with any real reasons why I didn't deserve it, and "I don't want to!" turned out to be an oddly unconvincing argument.
Upstairs in the bedroom he joined me on the bed and turned me over onto my stomach. To my surprise, he left both my jeans and panties up, but he immediately laid into me with the paddle. I tried to keep count, but after 30 or so swats I got lost in the burn of it. After a minute or so he stopped, but quickly informed me that we weren't finished. He turned me on my side and unfastened my jeans. When he tugged them down and got a view of my panties, he chuckled.

"How appropriate." Okay, I seriously didn't plan that. I showered the night before, before he told me the spanking was definitely the next day, and they were literally on the top of a basket of clean clothes. I really did just happen to grab them, but he seemed to get a kick out of them. Anyway, they didn't stay on display - they came right down after my jeans.
He moved me back into position and started spanking again, although this time with his hand. Okay, fine, I thought, I can handle his hand, just so long as he doesn't pick back up that paddle.
Ha!
It hurt SO BAD. I don't know if it was just because I hadn't been spanked in a while or if he'd been holding back before, but it's NEVER hurt that bad with his hand before. It seemed like the hand spanking went on forever, but eventually he stopped...and picked back up the paddle. By this time I was in serious distress, but I was trying hard to hold still. At some point in most spankings though, my butt just says "Screw this! I'm out of here!" and my whole body does this kung-fu flip out of position. Nick says that I have an uncanny knack for doing this when he's almost finished. This time I moved when he was at 299. Of 300. And so, I earned myself an extra 50.
Eventually though it was over, and he lay down beside me and held me. We talked about why it had to happen, and what I could do to keep it from happening again, and we spent a few minutes just holding each other. He began to gently rub my bottom, and very soon the throbbing turned into something very, very nice. What happened next is kind of a blur, but I moved down between his thighs for a bit, and at some point I was back getting spanked while he tugged on my hair and whispered about what a naughty girl I'd been. The good girl spanking was amazing, just what I needed to reconnect after being punished.
Later, we were on our way home from picking up Morgan. We were almost to our street when Nick suddenly hit the breaks and threw it in park. On the other side of the road tail lights glowed. A car was laying on its side in a five foot ditch. We both jumped out and heard the occupants of the car screaming. Nick sprinted down into the ditch, yelling at me to call 911. My heart in my throat, I fumbled through my purse for my phone. By the time I got an answer several cars had stopped behind us and several of the drivers had gotten out to help. One of them helped Nick pull open the passenger's side door.
Inside were two young girls, 17 and 19. Nick held the door open and just talked to them both, calming them down and letting them know that people were there to help and paramedics were on the way. The passenger was okay, mostly just very shaken up, but the driver hurt her arm, probably when her door hit the ground, and at first she wasn't responding. I think she was just stunned though, and by the time the paramedics arrived she was freaking out but definitely talking.
Nick helped the passenger up onto the side of the car and stayed there to hold the door open and talk to them both until the the fire trucks arrived. As soon as I was sure no one was seriously hurt and that I couldn't be of much assistance I moved Nick's truck and parked it in the entrance to a subdivision a few yards down the road. I carried Morgan back to the wreck, safe enough since by then the police were there and traffic was stopped both ways. I moved back out of the immediate hive of activity and talked to her about what had happened and why seat belts are so important.
When the EMTs arrived, Nick moved out of their way and we all walked back to the truck. Once inside we took a few minutes to say a prayer for the cars occupants and the emergency workers, and to thank God that no one was more seriously injured.
When we got home Nick did most of the cooking to fix an amazing dinner, and we just chilled out for the rest of the night. I'm so very proud of my husband. He didn't think twice about jumping in to help those girls, even though the car was in a precarious position, and there was no way to know if there was a gas tank leak or some other dangerous situation. And beyond all that, he's just an amazing husband and father. I'm so very blessed!

Still busy, busy...
I'm sorry for the lack of update and attention to comments this week. I really do appreciate each and every one. I'm as of yet still unspanked, although that may change tonight. This week has been insane. First of all, you wouldn't think Morgan starting back to school would be that tiring for me, especially since I drop her off on my way to work. But I do have to get her up and dressed and out the door, which has me getting up a half hour earlier than usual, and then I'm later getting home because I pick her up as well. Not to mention the half hour of homework when we get home. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I can drop her off and pick her up - our time together is precious. It's just taking me some time to re-acclimate myself to the schedule.
The big issue this week though has to do with Nick's job. He's a mechanic, and the way the scheduling works is that there are two teams that cover the work. Each team works for 4 12-hour days, then has 5 days off. Everybody is off on Sunday. This has been awesome, because he only has to work about 13-14 days a month. Since he drives 26 miles one way to work, this is a very big deal. Also, on his days off, he does a lot of side work for people, which has been a tremendous help with our bills. He was also able to watch Morgan a lot during the summer, which cut down on the amount of time we had to depend on my parents to watch her. With my dad's broken arm and my mom trying to take care of my papaw lately that's been hugely important. Now that she's back in school, he was planning to get a part time job for his off days so that hopefully we can make it to the beach this year.
All of that came to a screeching halt this weekend. On Saturday he heard a rumor that they were doing away with the shifts and going to one team with everybody working Monday through Friday and people rotating through Saturdays. Monday this was confirmed. He was understandably upset, as was I. This means that he has to make the drive 10 more times a month, has no time for side work, and no time for a part time job. Also, we were planning to go to the beach during his off shift with him switching with someone for a couple of days to get a full week. Now he won't have the time off.
All of this is supposed to start on the 1st of the month. I loved him being off so much because he was usually home when I got there, he was more relaxed in general, he was able to run some errands I couldn't get to, and he had free time to spend with his friends without feeling like he was taking away from family time.
Yesterday his manager pulled Nick aside as he was leaving and asked him if he was going to stay (several people are not). Nick told him that he would for now, but that he could find work much closer to home for the same money if he was going to work that kind of schedule. His manager said that everybody was getting a raise, which we knew, but we were pretty certain it wouldn't offset his side work income and the extra gas. Nick explained this, and his manager told him that it would be very much worth it to stay. He said he was still running the numbers, but he gave Nick an "at least" ballpark figure that rather shocked us. I won't count on it until I see it in writing, but I'm cautiously hopeful, and Nick feels a lot better about staying. We'd really appreciate your prayers that this will come through.
Anyway, we've spent the last few days discussing all of that, and that is why my butt is still quite lily white, but Nick says it won't be for much longer. I really, really hate waiting, but I guess I'd rather he do it when we're not both completely wrung out.

Busy Week
Sorry for the radio silence, guys - it's been a really busy week. Morgan's orientation was Thursday morning. My baby's in first grade! I had to work, so Nick took her, and he was very impressed with her teacher. I've known her for years, and I knew she would be great, but it was nice that Nick had a chance to see it too.
Thursday night we did indeed get to go to that concert, and it was awesome! Three bands played, all of them great, but one in particular I had been wanting to see for some time. They have this amazing song that seems to have been written just for me.
Friday was Morgan's first full day of school. She did great, and Friday night she had her very first sleepover. She went to her best friend's house, and Nick and I had a very nice evening alone.
The word is that I'm getting spanked some time this weekend, although it won't be the type of spanking I'd hoped for. Part of the reason is because I went a little overboard on the back to school shopping. Nick's check was really good last pay period, but we ended up a lot tighter than we should have.
The other reason has to do with my chores around the house. I have to confess that the place is a wreck right now. I have done something on it every day, but I've not really been as committed to it as I should have been, and it shows.
I get frustrated with myself (and I know Nick gets pretty frustrated with me too!) because this is an issue that is revisited fairly often. I'd say 90% of punishment spankings come down to exactly this. I'm always afraid that Nick will think that there's no point in spanking if it doesn't eliminate the problem, but the fact is that it gets me back on track like nothing else. I'll never be Martha Stewart, but I really am better than I used to be.
Whether he realizes it or not, I try to spend some time on most rooms every day. Today after I picked Morgan up from her friend's house I spent most of the day working on our bedroom. Let me give you a little piece of advice from the archives of my experience: When your husband's going to spank you for a messy house, it's a good idea to give him a clean room to do it in. The last thing you want is an atmosphere full of fuel for his righteous anger.
Anyway, I guess my point is, I know I've been here before, and I know I deserve this, but I want him to know that it really does help me. I appreciate the fact that he never gives up on me, even though I'm far from perfect. I'm going to do my best to do better with both my time management and my commitment and show him how much I cherish the fact that he loves me enough to take care of me this way.

Gratitude Tuesday
Lots of little things to be thankful for lately~
Nick just finished up a nice side job, and there's more side work on the horizon.
While my dad still doesn't have use of his arm, he is healing on schedule, and the pain is becoming a little more manageable.
Our new sales incentive program at work is a rousing success, and I've already made more than my usual meager monthly commision.
School starts for Morgan on Thursday, and she's finally gotten excited about her new teacher.
We might get to go to a local concert on Thursday night - a real date! Yipee!
Happy Gratitude Tuesday!

Ahhhh...
Nick has been helped out with his end of the trade. WEG. And while there was no spanking, I was rather well taken care of myself. Happy sigh...

The Birthday Party Crashers
or "Well that was awkward."
Thursday in the mail we got a little blue envelope addressed to Morgan. She was thrilled of course (at age six it's not likely you're getting bills), and I figured it was maybe a card from her teacher since school starts this week. What was actually inside was an invitation to a birthday pool party for today at 4:00.
The strange thing was that I didn't recognize the name of the child, her mother, or the party's address. There was an RSVP number, but I was reluctant to call and tell this woman that I didn't know who she was. I asked my mom (who is the bookkeeper at Morgan's school) if the girl was a student there, but she wasn't. I asked Nick if the little girl belonged to any of his friends, and I asked a friend in the children's ministry at our church if she knew her or her parents. No one knew these people.
Yesterday afternoon when I stepped out to let the dog out the lady hosting the party called to find out if Morgan had gotten her invitation. I stepped back in just as the answering machine was rewinding. The message included both my name as well as Morgan's, and she said that there was a problem with the mail, some of the invitations had been delayed, and she hoped that Morgan could be there. She also asked me to call her back. I called her right back but got her voice mail.
Several hours later she called me back, and I confessed that I didn't recognize her name. She seemed quite put out, but she recovered nicely and told me that her daughter is in Morgan's Sunday School class. Once she was on the phone I felt like it would be rude to decline the invitation (especially since I'd apparently offended her and Morgan was begging to go).
So today we went out and bought a birthday gift and showed up at this pool party. When we got there, there was a rather awkward moment when Morgan and the birthday girl met face to face. The girl whispered something in her mother's ear and then plainly said, "I don't remember her!"
Within a few minutes it became apparent that Morgan was indeed in the girl's Sunday School class - at the church we left almost two years ago. We'd seriously never met any of these people in our lives. Ironically enough the girl's aunt and uncle attend the church we actually belong to now, although we'd never met them either (it's a pretty big church).
As it turned out Morgan (who can make friends with a fence post) had a great time, and we all had a laugh about it. Nick especially is still chuckling over it. Next time though, he can answer the mystery invitation!

Maybe...
So I really need a spanking. Not a good girl spanking either. Not necessarily a punishment, more of a "You'd better remember who's boss, young lady, and you're going to feel this for three days!" type spanking.
Nick, it seems, needs some head.
Maybe we can work something out...

My Interview...
I did an interview several weeks ago for BlogInterviewer.com, and it was added to their site today. You can check me out there, as well as vote for my blog, and evry comment you leave enters you for a random drawing prize!
Forums
I've filled out the forum list some on the right, and since I did such a mass housekeeping with the blog links I thought I should mention why. First of all, I still visit all of my blogging friends - my decision to remove the links was made to avoid being specific about which sites I felt needed to be removed, and I've had my heart filled to bursting with the awesome support so many of you have shown me. I originally left up all the forums I had listed because I feel like they are great places to interact with other people in DD relationships. When Nick and I began to practice DD, the help I found on various forums was invaluable. I don't actively participate on any of them anymore just because I don't have time, but I have some very dear friends on some of them. If you're new at this, or need a place to discuss DD with like-minded people, a forum can be just the ticket, and you'll find that for the most part they're pretty porn free.

Gratitude...Wednesday
I just have to tell you guys how very good God has been to us today!
First of all, the whole lost pet saga actually got worse yesterday (yes, this story gets better). Besides the dog that disappeared a few months ago (and the one that disappeared on Monday), Morgan has had a turtle since we went to the beach last year. Now she's been very diligent with Franklin the turtle, feeding him daily, talking to him, etc...
Nick actually fed him on Sunday because he had to add some water to his aquarium. Monday, in all the uproar over the dog, Morgan forgot to feed him, which is not a huge big deal for just one day. Well yesterday she went to feed him and...he was gone. Just not there at all. We searched all around, certain he'd somehow miraculously climbed out of his aquarium (a mind-boggling feat in itself) and fallen to his untimely death. Two pets gone in two days!
Understandably, Nick and I were kind of down last night. Between all the pain Morgan was going through over the pets and a very tight budget lately and for the foreseeable future, things were feeling kind of bleak.
But today...well, today was one big blessing! To start with, today was the kick-off of a new sales program at my job. Sales is not a huge part of my position, but there are some opportunities to supplement your paycheck a little. With the new program they've increased commission on those sales by 33%.
Nick also had a phenomenal day commission-wise at work.
When we came home from work today, Franklin was hanging out in Morgan's floor, quite alive.
Then I opened our car insurance bill to find that our monthly premium for the next year has gone down by $38.00.
And best of all, a friend who knew we were looking for another puppy for Morgan sent me a message telling me to call her mom about one she was looking for a home for. It turns out the mom breeds Chihuahuas. She sells the puppies for between $300 and $500, and she's going to give Morgan one for free!
