Gratitude Tuesday - V
It's Gratitude Tuesday again! Today we celebrate V:
Venice - I'd love to visit there someday. Ever since I was a child I've been fascinated by the idea of a city full of water.

A very lovely trip...
Nick and I had a wonderful time at the marriage retreat. We were able to spend some time with another couple who are close friends of ours, but more importantly with each other! We had a very sweet evening together last night, and we got to spend some time just hanging out today before we went to my parents' house to pick up Morgan. The marriage retreat itself was great. The couple who spoke were warm and funny, and they did some great skits. It was so nice to have some time to focus just on us!

Good things come to those who wait...
So I went to Torrid tonight. Nick and I are going on a church marriage retreat this weekend, and I wanted to get some pretty lingerie for the trip. The other day I won a $25 mall gift card in a contest at work, and I planned to use it.
Well, I didn't find any lingerie that I wanted at Torrid, but I did find these, on clearance!!!
And at $9.98 each, I couldn't resist. Sometimes it pays to wait till after the holidays. The heart crop was obviously from Valentine's Day, and the pitchfork was part of their Halloween line. And how could I pass up the chance to buy kinky stuff with my prize money from work?
By the way, I did find some lovely lingerie elsewhere...

It's Gratitude Tuesday again! Today we celebrate U:
Uniforms - I love Nick in his work uniform. He just seems so capable and ready to do something physical...
Umbrellas - Just the ticket for shade on the beach or shelter in the rain. There are few more practical inventions.
Upside-down - and looking at the carpet...
Ushers - very handy to have when you need an escort to your seat!
Ultimatums - sometimes very, very sexy.
Underwear - specifically boxer briefs. Yum!
Upside-down cake - er, pineapple upside-down cake. Sooooo good!
Utensils - especially ones that can be used for spanking...
USA - God bless America!
Uncle - I had the world's best uncle. We shared a birthday, and he taught me to drive a stick shift - in his car. He used to take me and Nick out for burgers when he somehow knew we were broke, and he loved to take us out on the lake. He was severely diabetic and eventually lost both legs to the disease. After his first amputation he learned to water ski on one leg. Sadly he passed away 6 years ago the day after he got back from a trip to Vegas. I miss him.

From the "Be careful what you wish for" file...
I'm sitting very, very tenderly right now. So for a while now I've had a not so secret fantasy of experiencing the whole toy box in one round. There were a few that didn't make it in, but that fantasy was pretty much fulfilled last night. I've been spanked, strapped, flogged, paddled, and caned. My butt is thoroughly blistered. So when we went upstairs with pretty much the sole purpose of sex and all that entails and he got down the new paddle from Michael's, I decided I didn't want to play. I was going to "spare" him. I was going to make this just good old vanilla sex with no spanking whatsoever involved.
What I didn't realize was that he wasn't breaking out the new paddle because he felt like he had to. He was doing it because he wanted to play with me and give me something good and enjoyable, because he loves me. He patiently asked questions until it came out what was bothering me. When I put the "if you were starting over" question to him he said (after repeatedly assuring me that at no point in his life will he ever seek to "start over") that if he met someone and had a real connection with them and spanking was what they needed then he would be more than fine with it.
"I just feel like you feel pressured to do this for me, like you feel like it has to be part of sex for us," I tried to explain.
And then he said the most perfect thing. "It does have to be part of sex for us, because this is just what we do. It's part of you, and I'm okay with that. I want to do this for you." And even though he's said the same thing a hundred times before, for some reason it just clicked this time, and I realized, really realized, that it is a part of me, and because I am a part of him (as he is of me), then this is also a part of him, even if it's not something he started out with.
If the roles were reversed, if he had say, a foot fetish (which just for the record he does not), then I would be happy to cater to that, even though it doesn't speak to me personally. And he feels the same way about me.
Well, while I was having this epiphany he was gathering a large collection of implements together, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Gratitude Tuesday - T
It's Gratitude Tuesday again! Today we celebrate T:
Tacos - Tacos are awesome. Not the best food for eating in the car, but very, very tasty just the same.
Tits - Mine have served me well. Nick seems to like them too.
Tennis shoes - I've never been a stiletto type girl. Give me a pair of New Balances any day.
Telephones - I use the telephone every single day, mostly on the job. And while I could definitely do without some of the people I talk to there, I'd hate to think what it would be like to not be able to use one in the rest of my life.
Television - I probably watch too much of it, but I love TV, and it's something that Nick and I bond over. We can spend half an hour dissecting Grey's Anatomy, House, or Lost.
Tweezers - Okay, I may be a little obsessed with tweezers. I'm the type of person who loves to pick at stuff on the small scale, clean dust out of the mouse, peel dried glue off the top of the bottle, untangle a knotted chain. Thanks to this compulsiveness, my 10x magnification mirror, and my precision tweezers, I have the best-groomed eyebrows in town.
Thumbs - what handy additions to our bodies!
Toilet paper - How can you not be grateful for toilet paper? Consider the alternatives!
Trampolines - What fun!

A really big paddle...
So I got that spanking. Nick took care of it last night, 101 swats with the AngelBrat paddle. Okay, so it was supposed to be 100, but I was a bit slow with the "yes, sir" when he asked if I felt like I'd learned my lesson. My spankings always end up like pumping gas. The plan is to get $20 worth, but you lose your focus for one minute and you end up buying $20.01.
Thanks to Bethie we have another new toy. When I saw her new paddle I knew I wanted one. She was kind enough to direct me to Michael's craft store, where they were just $5.99! We went today and I picked one up, along with this super cute iron-on patch. Thanks for the idea, Bethie!

Rumor has it...
So the word is I have a spanking coming. Something tells me the laundry may come up. (Arrgghh! My nemesis!) To tell the truth, I'd been feeling the itch lately, and I screwed up enough courage to tell Nick that I thought I was going to need a spanking soon. Now when I said "need" I suppose I meant "want". What he said to me was, "I know. I have something in mind."
Whoa! Something in mind? Okay, I'll be honest here. Nick doesn't usually pick up on it when I just have a need for spanking that's motivated by stress or libido, and that's mainly because I have a hard time showing it. It's still hard for me to ask for something just because I want it when he does so much for me that I have a legitimate need for. So what that means is that if he decides all by himself to spank me, it's generally because I've done something to deserve punishment or at least strong discipline.
So the fact that this was already a plan for him was a bit concerning for me. "Um, 'something in mind'? That sounds a bit diabolical..." I said tentatively.
"Oh, don't worry, it is." he assured me.
So I'm going to do some cleaning today. It never hurts to bank those brownie points. And speaking of brownies, I might just make some of those too. You never know what might help...

Happy (late) Valentine's Day
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day. Unfortunately Nick and I both had to work, so we didn't get to spend the day together. However we had a lovely dinner that evening, so it was still a very nice day. He came home with a card, a paper weight I'd pointed out, a very pretty pink leather storage box I'd also pointed out, and lots of candy. 
I'd made him a card with some scrapbooking stuff, and I also gave him a picture album/journal filled with some of my favorite memories of him.
And the Valentine's sentiments wouldn't be complete without me saying how much I love all of you guys - my readers and fellow bloggers.

Wow, those things really pile up...
First of all, Nick bought me an amazing digital camera the other day. The one we had has been a good one, but it was only a 4 megapixel, and it tended to get fuzzy on the action shots. The one he got me is a 10 mp HP, and it does SO MUCH cool stuff! Anyway, inspired by Bonnie's Implement Stories series, I thought it was time I took one big picture of all of ours. It turns out we have quite a few. So many in fact that it was hard to get them all laid out on the bed, and next to impossible to get them all in one shot. It was really a bit alarming. So, without further adieu, here are the four shots I took to get them all, and my best all inclusive one:

In Memoriam...
In the comments on my last post, I received some very sad news. A very dear man I met through a forum I once roamed on passed away suddenly on Sunday. Alan was a sweetheart, a wonderful storyteller and a generous and imaginative artist. My blog is sprinkled with artwork he gave me permission to post, and I've gathered them here in tribute to him. You can see from the content that Alan was a sweet and fun-loving person who truly embraced the playfulness of spanking. He was always there with a kind thought and an understanding word. He will be sorely missed.

Respect - life is so much better when you can both give and command it.
Roses - I love roses, and this is almost always the flower of choice when Nick chooses to surprise me.
Rain - I love to curl up under a warm blanket and listen to a furious storm pounding down outside.
Reading - My absolute, all-time favorite solo activity (yes, even more than that).
Rainbows - It's always very, very special to me to see a rainbow. They're so rare in my experience, and such a beautiful promise.
Rings - I have a few special rings that I wear every day - my wedding band of course, Nick's great-grandfather's wedding band (he was a rather small man), a silver Celtic knot ring Nick bought me, and a diamond that Nick got me for Christmas a couple of years ago.
Remotes - Okay, so it's terribly lazy, but I like not having to get up and walk across the room!
Rulers - very, very naughty schoolgirl-esqe!
Rope - Oh the things you can do with rope!
